The Fairytale town Ærøskøbing

Ærøskøbing is often referred to as the Fairytale town of Denmark.

In fact Ærøskøbing dates back to the 18th century and is Denmarks most well-preserved town from the early middle ages.

And is Ærøskøbing truely a Fairytale town?

It is certainly very idyllic with its cobbled streets, the cozy town square, narrow alleys, small almost doll-sized houses and colorful environments, lush hollyhocks up the walls, a bike or two ...

The town can be seen as a monument of the past, but at the same time it is a significant model for present-day residential housing because it is an expression of the accumulated experience of generations on knowledge of housing and town planning.

And behind the romantic facades the town continues living its quiet and tranquil life.
