100 kilometers through the landscapes of Ærø

Ærø’s 100-km bike route is a loop for those who want to experience the entire island from the saddle. The route follows well-paved roads through small villages, open fields, and along the coast, where the sea is almost always part of the view. Here, you’ll find a bike ride with quiet roads, varied terrain, and plenty of spots where it’s perfect to take a break.

The route is part of the 4 x 100 concept, in which four Danish islands each offer their own 100-km paved route. On Ærø, you’ll enjoy a ride where nature, culture, and the unique island lifestyle accompany you all the way around.

Ocean views, charming towns, and rolling hills along the way

On Ærø, you’re never far from the water. Along the way, you’ll cycle through the island’s distinctive landscapes with hedgerows, small villages, and views of the South Funen Archipelago. In several places, you can experience the unique sight that characterizes the island: the sea visible on both sides at the same time. It’s precisely here that you’ll understand why they say that everything is water next to Ærø.

The route takes you through the historic market towns of Ærøskøbing and Marstal, as well as past small villages, harbor areas, and scenic viewpoints. You set your own pace, and there are plenty of opportunities to combine your bike ride with a visit to a café, a beach, or one of the island’s many attractions.

For road bikes, touring bikes, and active vacation days

The 100-km route is particularly well-suited for road bikes and other bikes that perform best on asphalt. The ride is perfect for those who want an active day on the bike or wish to challenge themselves with a longer loop through the varied island landscape.

Ærø is known as a bike-friendly island with quiet roads and short distances between attractions. Along the way, you’ll find several spots where you can take a break, refill your water bottle, and enjoy the view before continuing your ride.
