Lights in the Dark on Ærø: Culture and Danish "hygge"

Lights in the Dark on Ærø is a two-day cultural weekend with exciting cultural and culinary experiences. It always takes place on the first full weekend of November.

Lights in the Dark on Ærø is a two-day cultural weekend full of culinary and cultural experiences. It always takes place on the first full weekend of November and is held simultaneously on Ærø, Læsø, Samsø and Langeland.

The idea is to shine a little light through joint experiences in a time in a time otherwise marked by autumn and winter darkness across the four islands.

On Ærø the locals, part-time residents and guests are invited to two special evenings when the island opens up after dusk – a weekend full of events that’s a little unusual for the season.

Last year's programme offered a wide range of children's activities, cultural and experimental elements, and culinary experiences with a focus on cosiness and togetherness.

At the end of October 2026, we will have a new programme ready for you.
