Open House and Shrovetide at Marstang Mad & Vin

Experience Shrovetide and masquerade ball at Marstang Mad & Vin.

When darkness falls on Shrovetide Monday, you can sit down to dinner in the cosy rooms of Ida and Camilla at Marstang Mad & Vin in Marstal.

Here you can snack on cheese, ham and carnival buns and enjoy good wine while you wait for the masks from Marstal to drop by during the evening. Read all about the island's Shrovetide tradition.

Ida and Camilla also offer apple pork with a side dish - an old tradition dictates that if you don't eat pork on Shrovetide, you risk having a sore back in the coming year. Ouch!

So drop by and make sure you have a good back in 2025. We guarantee cosy company and a fun evening.

It's open from 6pm until the last people in costumes and masks have passed.
