A summer evening with a maritime atmosphere in Marstal

When Marstal By Night fills the town’s streets with music, laughter and people enjoying themselves, you immediately sense the unique atmosphere that defines Ærø’s historic seafaring town. On this summer evening, life moves outdoors as locals and visitors come together to enjoy great food, maritime experiences and a warm community spirit.

Marstal has been closely connected to the sea for generations, and that heritage is reflected throughout the event. The harbour, the charming shopping streets and the crowds enjoying the long summer evening are all just a short stroll apart.

Singing sailors on wheels

One of the evening’s most popular attractions is the local choir Marstals Småborgerlige Sangforening. The choir makes its way through the town in a small rowing boat mounted on a trailer, singing as it rolls through the streets. The sight of the singing boat has become a much-loved tradition, beautifully bringing together Marstal’s maritime history and its strong sense of community.

Fun for the whole family

There’s plenty to enjoy throughout the town. Near SuperBrugsen, you can usually find a bouncy castle for children, while the barbecue adds to the summer atmosphere with delicious food.

At Kompasrosen in the pedestrian street, there are usually even more activities for children, and adults can also look forward to a variety of entertainment during the evening.

The town’s restaurants, cafés and pizzerias stay open, inviting you in for anything from a quick bite to a relaxed evening meal. At the same time, the open shops and lively atmosphere make it the perfect opportunity to explore the charming streets of Marstal.

A celebration created by the local community

Marstal By Night is organised by the town’s business association in collaboration with local partners. Together they create an evening where the seafaring town comes alive at its very best. As a visitor, you’ll experience the welcoming community, the vibrant atmosphere and the maritime identity that make Marstal such a special place.
