A cycling route through nature and history
The Cycle Around Søbygaard route is perfect if you’d like to discover a quieter side of Ærø. You'll cycle along peaceful country roads through a landscape of open fields, hedgerows and gentle hills, where nature and history go hand in hand.
At the heart of the route lies Søbygaard. This former manor house has shaped the surrounding area for centuries and is now a vibrant cultural venue and Geopark visitor centre. Here you can take a break, visit the exhibitions or enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in the café before continuing your visit.
Along the way, you'll cycle around Vitsø Nor, where abundant birdlife and wide-open landscapes create a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. If you fancy a short detour, head to Voderup Klint for one of Ærø’s most spectacular views across The South Fyn Archipelago.

Practical information about the route
The route is approximately 30 km long and mainly follows paved roads, with a few short sections on compact gravel. The terrain is gently to moderately rolling and suitable for most cyclists.
Along the route, you'll find several Bike Friends, where you can refill your water bottle, borrow a bike pump or get helpful local tips. If you'd like to take a break from cycling, you can also make use of Ærø’s free buses.
